SadFish Gets Abducted by Aliens

by SirGerald (May 2003)

To look at him, you never would have thought that one day, not long ago, SadFish had been abducted by visitors from outer space.

It happened like this...

SadFish had been swimming around the pool all morning looking in vain for a fresh morsel of something or other for breakfast. But there just wasn't anything there. Except for a few leaves floating on the surface and the usual bits of stuff in the water there really wasn't much to see. Of course, there were also all the other fish from his neighborhood who were apparently doing the same thing he was, looking for breakfast.

He stopped by the big log to talk to his best friend, Leroy, who was a big lunker of a bass. Everyone else usually tried to avoid Leroy because he wasn't always in a good mood. But, for some reason, Leroy was always nice to SadFish.

Leroy said that he had been lucky this morning and had just finished his breakfast of a cricket and a moth and that he was heading back to his hiding spot for his mid-morning nap. SadFish said he'd see him later and continued on his way.

He was just beginning to think that he wouldn't get any breakfast at all when all of a sudden a big juicy-looking bug jumped into the pool right in front of him.

Without even thinking, SadFish rushed right over, opened his mouth wide, and swallowed the big bug whole, not even noticing the extremely long, thin tail that the bug had. Before he knew it, SadFish was pulled right out of the pool into outer space.

He wiggled and wriggled and flopped and plopped on the dry surface of the alien world he found himself in. He couldn't breath and was gasping for water when he saw a huge hand come down from the heaven and grab him tightly around his middle. A probe of some kind was shoved down his gasping throat and the bug he had just eaten was pulled right out of his stomach.

"OW! THAT HURT!", he yelled. But nobody seemed to hear him.

He looked around and saw the monster alien that was holding him in its huge hand. He saw two other aliens about the same size. They were all talking to each other in their native language which was totally incomprehensible to SadFish. But, it DID seem like they were laughing, too. And what really hurt was that it seemed they were laughing at HIM.

SadFish tried to bite the alien that was holding him but couldn't quite get his head turned enough to manage it. The alien didn't seem to mind, either. They all just kept laughing...at least, he thought it was laughing.

Then, to SadFish's total surprise, the alien threw him back into the pool. Right where he had been before. Imagine that.

Except for that last bit of luck, this had turned out to be one lousy day for poor old SadFish.
